Dr. Drew Hunter, MD is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology specializing in cataract and refractive surgery, including LASIK, medical and surgical management of glaucoma, and treatment of dry eye disease. He strives to treat his patients like family while providing the highest quality, state-of-the-art technology to obtain the best vision possible for each patient. 

Dr. Hunter has a particular interest in helping patients reduce their dependence on glasses following cataract surgery by use of laser-assisted cataract surgery and premium intraocular lens implantation for astigmatism and presbyopia.  Dr. Hunter also offers dropless cataract surgery for some of his patients.

A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Dr. Hunter graduated from the University of North Carolina where he obtained a business degree from the Kenan-Flagler Business School. While at Chapel Hill, he met his future wife, Marsha Wedgeworth Hunter, through the FCA. 

He completed medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and an internship in internal medicine at the University of North Carolina. He then completed medical and surgical training through his residency at the University of North Carolina.

Dr. Hunter feels very blessed to have 4 wonderful children, Preston, Worth, Grayson, and Madison Jane with his wife, Marsha, who was born and raised on Hilton Head Island. They can often be found enjoying the outdoors, either at the beach or out hunting and fishing.

Dr. Bart Depascale, OD has been in both solo practice and group practice for over 30 years. During this time he has seen and treated virtually every eye condition.

Dr. Depascale completed his optometry degree at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the South Carolina Optometric Physicians Association, and a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.  

He and his wife relocated to the beautiful community of Bluffton, SC from Northeast Ohio in 2012.

Dr. Laura Belka joins the Carolina Eyecare Physicians team as a licensed Optometrist. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, followed by a Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry located in Memphis, TN.

She has worked as an optometrist in South Carolina and Georgia for over fifteen years, specializing in vision disorders and ocular disease.

Dr. Belka currently resides in Savannah, GA. In her free time, she enjoys reading, painting, traveling, and watching her boys’ sports.

Dr. Belka is excited to be part of the Carolina Eyecare Physicians family and is looking forward to serving the patients of the low country. She will be accepting new patients in the Bluffton office of Carolina Eyecare Physicians.

Dr. Cynthia Charnetski recently joined the Carolina Eyecare Physicians team as a licensed Optometrist. She has over 23 years of experience providing comprehensive eye care to patients, including pre- and post-operative care, glaucoma management, ocular pathology, refractive and contact lens exams, ocular disease treatment, and more.

A native of Pennsylvania, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Wilkes University, followed by a Doctor of Optometry degree from Salus University and a Bachelor of Science in Visual Science, also from Salus University.

Dr. Charnetski has received numerous community awards throughout her career, including the Wilkes University Colonel Blazer Award, Times Leader 40 Under 40 Award, and she was a Kosciuszko Foundation Academic Scholarship Recipient. She has also co-authored various papers and studies, as well as presented at national optometry and ophthalmology meetings.

In her spare time, Dr. Charnetski is active with animal rescue and has several rescue dogs! She is also on the Board of Trustees and Alumni Boards at Wilkes University. She and her husband are excited to be moving to the Hilton Head area.

Dr. Charnetski is looking forward to serving the patients of Carolina Eyecare Physicians for years to come. She will be accepting new patients in the Hilton Head, Bluffton and Lady’s Island-Beaufort offices of Carolina Eyecare Physicians.
