Through a love for research, Dr. Sandoval has been involved in a variety of public presentations and published articles about various research projects. She has given oral presentations, been an invited panelist, and authored or co-authored articles on more than 200 occasions. In addition, she provides editorial review for the many of the leading ophthalmic publications in the United States and Colombia.
Dr. Sandoval enjoys being able to see and evaluate new technology and give feedback. She feels it keeps her mind fresh, and she’s always learning new ideas and concepts. “It’s always exciting to know that what you are doing not only helps the person in front of you but reaches so many more people.”

Dr. Sandoval is a trained ophthalmologist. Following her medical training, she decided to change her focus to ophthalmic research. She attended the Medical University of South Carolina to obtain her Master of Science Degree in Clinical Research. - Why did you choose to focus your career on ophthalmic research?
Through performing and evaluating a variety of clinical studies, I am able to review and report on new technology. It’s exciting to see the advancements being developed in our field and I enjoy the continuous learning that a career in research provides.
